We are keen to recruit a skilled, committed and experienced financial assistant to join our team at Washingborough Academy to work as part of a collaborative business development team. The ideal candidate will start November 2021.
As Finance Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school responsible for ensuring high standards of financial integrity. You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial processes and administrative procedures required of the academy, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Academies Financial Handbook.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain financial records and filing systems, ensuring they are ready for audit
Process purchase orders, receive delivered goods and prepare invoices for payment
Responsible for the receiving, recording and safekeeping of all cash income
Make sure that invoices for services are raised promptly and receipt of income monitored
Take responsibility to order and maintain school supplies and liaise with the relevant staff to ensure supplies are stored and distributed
Assist with the reconciliation of school’s bank accounts, credit card statements, financial ledgers and VAT returns
Assist with the administration of cashless system used in the School
Work closely with the School Business Manager to ensure the continuing financial stability of the school, supporting in driving forward finance change and initiatives which promote regularity, propriety, value for money and best standards
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience of running effective administrative and financial systems, ideally within a school environment
High level of proficiency with Office 365 (especially Excel) and Xero accounting package is desirable
Experience using financial systems and confidence and interest in learning new technologies
Works productively in a high-pressure environment
Right to work in the UK
English and Maths GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent
AAT qualified or working towards

Clerk to Governors
Hours: Part Time – Minimum of 3 hours per month

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our governing body, providing support for the Governance and a full and comprehensive clerking service to Washingborough Academy Governing Body, member of Aurum Academies Trust Ltd.
Duties include advising the governors of procedural and legal duties, preparation and circulation of agendas/minutes and other papers, taking and typing up minutes of the governing body meetings and other administrative duties as required. The governing body meets 6 times per academic year.
Previous minute taking experience is essential and knowledge/experience of School/Academy governance is highly preferable. An educational and/or legal background would be beneficial with the capacity to learn quickly.
You will be computer literate with excellent communication skills, highly organised and motivated to keep to deadlines. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake ongoing training.
The ability to work flexible hours is important, as some months will require more hours than others, including attending evening meetings.
Due to the nature of the role a high level of confidentiality will be required.
Purpose of the Role
Ensuring meetings are conducted in an effective and efficient manner with due regard to appropriate regulations and guidance.
Ensuring the Governing Body is properly constituted in line with the Trust’s Articles of Association.
Providing advice and guidance to Governors to ensure that where appropriate, all meetings conform to legal requirements, procedures, Trust’s agreed Terms of Reference and all relevant procedures and processes.
